  2. Copper oxide recycling Recently, there has been growing interest in developing efficient and selective catalytic processes for the conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) to valuable chemicals such as ethanol. In this regard, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as promising solid catalysts due to their tunable pore structures, high surface area, and versatile chemistry. In a recent study, a team of researchers developed a new MOF catalyst featuring cooperative copper centres that offers high selectivity towards the conversion of CO2 to ethanol. The catalyst was prepared by incorporating copper ions into the pores of a MOF called HKUST-1, which is known for its high stability. The researchers found that the presence of multiple copper ions in close proximity to each other within the MOF framework created a synergistic effect that promoted the reduction of CO2 to ethanol with high selectivity. The copper centres cooperatively activated the CO2 and then catalysed the conversion of the resulting intermediate species to ethanol. The team used a combination of experimental techniques and computational modelling to understand the mechanism of this cooperative behaviour. They found that the copper ions interacted with each other through bridging oxygen atoms in the MOF framework, which allowed for efficient electron transfer between them and facilitated the reduction of CO2. In addition to its high selectivity, the MOF catalyst also exhibited high stability over multiple catalytic cycles. The researchers attribute this to the strong interaction between the copper ions and the MOF framework, which prevented the leaching of the metal species. Overall, this study demonstrates the potential of MOFs as promising solid catalysts for converting CO2 into high-value chemicals such as ethanol, and highlights the importance of cooperative interactions between metal centres for achieving high catalytic activity and selectivity Scrap metal trade associations Export procedures for Copper scrap Industrial copper decommissioning Copper scrap export and trade Copper scrap reuse Metal waste removal

  3. Local copper scrap buyers Copper mining has been a crucial industry throughout history, with the use of copper dating back to ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians and the Greeks. The metal’s ability to conduct heat and electricity made it an important component in the development of technology and infrastructure. The first copper mines were established in South America around 6,000 years ago, with the earliest known mining occurring in present-day Peru. The ancient Incas used copper for various religious and decorative purposes, as well as agricultural tools. Copper mining also played a vital role in the development of early civilizations in the Mediterranean region. Cyprus was one of the first locations to mine copper, with evidence of mining operations dating back to the Bronze Age. The island’s copper mines were so productive that the metal became known as “Cyprium,” which later evolved into “cuprum” – the Latin word for copper. During the Industrial Revolution, demand for copper skyrocketed as it became widely used in electrical wiring. The largest copper deposits were found in North America, with the first mines established in the Great Lakes region in the early 19th century. By the turn of the 20th century, the United States was the world leader in copper production. Advances in technology have improved the efficiency and safety of copper mining, but it still remains a challenging and complex industry. Mining companies must navigate complex geological and engineering challenges, as well as environmental and social responsibility concerns. Today, the largest copper producing countries include Chile, Peru, China, and the United States. The metal remains a crucial component in the global economy, with applications in industries such as construction, electronics, and transportation. Despite its long and storied history, copper mining faces new challenges in the 21st century. As demand for the metal continues to grow, mining companies must find ways to balance economic growth with sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship Scrap metal sustainability Copper scrap smelting Copper scrap industry associations Copper alloy recycling Innovative technologies for copper scrap recycling Scrap metal material sourcing
